Cap Corse: Stones, Winds and Living Memory

A land to be experienced — where unspoiled nature, age-old traditions, and living heritage meet.

🏛️ An Immersion into the Architecture and Soul of Cap Corse

Beyond modern comfort, Latu Corsu (Côté Corse) offers a true immersion in the traditional architecture of Cap Corse. Faithful to local practices, the house embraces a sober, functional aesthetic, perfectly integrated into its surroundings.

Inspired by Cap Corse's villages, the structure mirrors the dense, organic layout of grouped family homes, linked by narrow alleys, stone stairways, and vaulted passages. A design that fosters intimacy, peace, and harmony with nature.

Built with local schist stone, the house carries on ancient craftsmanship while adapting to the island's climate: small openings, independent exterior staircases, and natural orientation to harness light and shelter from the wind.

The Genoese influence can be seen in the volumes, roofs and materials, recalling the unique Mediterranean heritage of Cap Corse.
And for history enthusiasts: an ancient Genoese tower, located in the immediate vicinity, bears witness to the defensive past when these bastions watched over the coasts against invasions. A place full of soul, between memory, landscape and hospitality.

🌺 A Living Heritage at the Heart of the Cap

Cap Corse is an ancient and protected land, where history reveals itself at every turn. Genoese towers, Romanesque chapels, and "American houses" (built by Corsicans returning from Venezuela or Argentina) are scattered throughout the villages, telling a unique collective story.

⚓️ A Deeply Rooted Maritime Culture

Cap Corse is also a land of sailors. In small ports like Tollare, Centuri, or Macinaggio, fishing traditions are still alive: lobsters, sea urchins, and rockfish are caught using ancestral techniques, passed down from father to son.

🌿 Raw and Protected Nature

As part of the Cap Corse and Agriates Marine Natural Park, the region is home to:

  • Exceptional flora: helichrysum, juniper, wild orchids, fragrant maquis
  • Rich marine fauna: dolphins, migratory birds, sea turtles
  • Natura 2000 protected zones, where biodiversity is actively preserved

The light, the scent of the maquis, the wind, the silence... Everything here speaks to the senses — and captures the essence of Corsica.

🍇 A Land of Flavour and Terroir

Cap Corse is also a well-known wine region, featuring:

  • The AOC Muscat du Cap Corse, a sweet and aromatic wine
  • Bright, saline white wines, influenced by the sea breeze
  • A mostly organic, environmentally respectful production

You'll also find local producers of honey, olive oil, cheese, and Corsican charcuterie nearby — authentic flavours to taste and share.

🌅 A Genuine, Human and Peaceful Corsica

To experience Cap Corse is to embrace a slower, gentler rhythm — to take time to watch the sea, listen to the birds, and talk with the locals.

That's exactly what we offer at Latu Corsu: a stay that is simple yet rich in meaning, rooted in a strong culture, powerful nature, and a sincere way of life.
